GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY DIPLOMA COURSE

Requirements are compulsory for appearing in final examination.
Note:Married candidates are also eligible for admission. Admission against 50% open seats and 50% state seats will be made based on the merit of the qualifying examination.

Objectives:

  • under the aims of K.V.I.N the following are the main objectives of the course. At the completion of the course the students are expected to:
    • Demonstrate competency in providing health care to individual, sick or well, using nursing process.
    • Apply knowledge from the humanities, biological and behavioral sciences in functioning as a nurse.
    • Function effectively with members of the health team and community applying the knowledge of human relations and communication skills in her work.
    • Participate as member of the health team in delivery of curative preventive, promotive and rehabilitative health care service.
    • Mobilize community resources and their involvement in working with the communities.
    • Demonstrate use of ethical values in their personal and professional life.
    • Demonstrate interest in activities of professional organization.
    • Recognize the need for continuing education for professional development.
    • Demonstrate basic skills in teaching patients and giving nursing care to them.
    • Demonstrate basic skills in administration and leadership while working with other members of health team and community.
    • Assist in research activities.

Eligibility:

  1. The age of the candidate should be between 17 to 35 years as on 31st December of admission year
    The upper age can be relaxable by 5 years in the case of SC/ST candidates. Age as recorded in the matriculation certificate will be entertained.
  2. Minimum Education.
    • 10+2 class preferably Science (PCB) & English with aggregate 40 % marks from a recognized Board of School Education or its equivalent Board.
    • 10+2 in Arts (Mathematics, Biotechnology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Accountancy, Home Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy) and English Core/English Elective or Health Care Science – Vocational stream only, passing out from recognized Board underAISSCE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board with 40% marks.
    • 10+2 Arts or Health Care Science – Vocational stream only conducted by National Institute of Open School with 40% marks.
    • For SC/ST candidates, there will be relaxation of 5 % marks.
  3. Student should be medically fit. She should produce the fitness certificate duly issued by the chief medical officer /Medical Superintendent of the district.
  4. Student shall be admitted once in a year.

Note:- There will be no provision of Migration from the institute to any other institute.

The Nurse on completion of this course will be able to:
